The archaeological site of Waqrapukara has nothing to envy to the other Inca complexes in Cusco. Its name comes from a Quechua word that means in Spanish: ‘Fortress in the shape of a horn’.
Waqrapukara or Waqrapucará is an Inca archaeological complex located in the peasant community of Huayqui, annex of Percca in the district of Acos, located in the province of Acomayo in the department of Cuzco. It is located near the Apurímac River at 4,300 m s. no. m.
